The setup, one screen at a time
Get ready before typing anything
Open your activation message on your phone and find the three values. Check which app the new screen will use and whether you can type comfortably on it: a TV remote keyboard is slow, while the Google TV, Fire TV or Roku phone apps, or an Apple TV with an iPhone nearby, let you type or paste from the phone. Also take a quick speed reading where the new screen sits, especially if it is at a cottage or in a far corner of the house.
Find the Xtream option in the app
IPTV Smarters calls it Login with Xtream Codes API. TiViMate lists it as Xtream Codes login after Add playlist. MyTVOnline on Formuler boxes offers it alongside portals, and other players may just say Xtream or API. If a player offers both Xtream and M3U, choose Xtream, because it brings the guide and on-demand sections with it. The option is usually on the first screen after installing, but on some players it only appears after you choose to add a new user, a new playlist or a new source from the settings menu, so look there if the opening screen only offers a demo or a playlist link.
Enter the server URL
This is the full address of the server, beginning with http:// and ending with a colon and port number, shaped like http://example.com:8080. Nothing goes after the port, not even a slash in most players. A missing port or http:// is the cause of most failed logins, so check this field twice.
Enter the username and password
Copy both exactly from the message. They are case sensitive, so a capital letter matters. If you type them on a TV, look for stray spaces at the end. The profile or playlist name that some apps ask for is just a label; something like Cottage or Residence helps you tell screens apart later.
Save and let it sync
The app now downloads the channel list, on-demand content and guide. With a line-up of 25,000+ channels, the first sync takes a few minutes on slower devices or rural connections. Keep the three values somewhere safe, such as a password manager, so the next screen takes a minute rather than a message to support.
Organize and check the clock
Once channels appear, add your regular Canadian channels to Favourites in that app, and check the device’s time zone matches where the screen is. A laptop taken to residence in another province or a TV at a cottage across a provincial line may need its time zone changed so the guide matches local time.
Keep a household list of screens
Write down which devices use the login and which player each one runs: basement Fire TV with Smarters, living-room Google TV with TiViMate, a laptop in residence with VLC. When the subscription renews, nothing needs changing, but if the password is ever reset, that list tells you exactly where to type the new one. It also makes it easier to see how many screens might play at the same time on a busy evening, compared with your plan’s allowance.
Check performance on a busy evening
Log in on a quiet afternoon, then watch a live channel on a busy evening before relying on that screen for a big game. If it stutters, the fixes are the same as on any device: move closer to the router or use a cable, choose HD over 4K, and pause heavy downloads elsewhere in the house. The login itself does not affect speed.
If a step does not work
Invalid credentials or login failed
Check the server URL has http:// at the start and the port at the end, then retype the password by hand. If it still fails, confirm the subscription is active and that the details came from your latest activation message.
The app only asks for an M3U URL
Some older players do not support Xtream. Use the M3U link in your activation message, which contains the same account in playlist form. The M3U guide explains how to use it.
Too many connections or the stream stops when someone else starts watching
Your login can be installed on many devices, but the number playing at once is limited by your plan. If a second screen stops the first, check how many streams are running in the house.
The guide is in the wrong time zone on the new screen
The login does not carry a time zone; the device does. Set the device clock to the province where the screen is, then use the player’s EPG time shift only if needed.

Xtream Codes login: setup questions
Is Xtream Codes an app I need to download?
No. Xtream Codes is a login format that IPTV players support. You install a player such as IPTV Smarters or TiViMate, then choose its Xtream option and enter your three details.
Is the Xtream Codes login format legal?
The format is just a way of passing a server address, username and password to a player, and it is used by ordinary apps in mainstream app stores. Whether any particular service is legal depends on the rights behind what it distributes, not on the login format. Our article on IPTV legality covers this in more depth.
Can I use the same login at home and at the cottage?
Yes. The login works on any internet connection, so the cottage TV uses the same three details as the living room. Just keep an eye on your plan’s simultaneous-stream allowance when both are playing.
What is the difference between the Xtream login and the M3U link?
They open the same subscription. The Xtream login sends three separate details and lets the player fetch channels, guide and on-demand content in a structured way. The M3U link wraps everything into one address that produces a playlist. Use Xtream wherever you can.
Can I change the password on my login?
Ask our support team. If your password changes, every device signed in with the old one needs the new details, so keep a list of which screens use the login.
Why does my server URL have a port number?
The port tells the player which door on the server to use. Without it, the player knocks on the wrong one and the login fails, which is why the port is the first thing to check when a sign-in does not work.
Will my login work in a player not listed here?
If the player has an Xtream Codes or Xtream API option, it should accept your details. If it only accepts playlists, use your M3U link instead. Support can suggest a player if you are unsure.
