The setup, one screen at a time
Check the TV is ready
Open Settings and find Network, then Network Status. The menu moved between model years, with newer sets placing it under Connection, but it is there on all of them, and it confirms the TV is online and whether it uses Wi-Fi or a cable. If a smartphone speed test at the couch is poor, look at the back of the set: almost every Samsung has an Ethernet port, and using it is the single best upgrade you can make. Also confirm you are signed in to a Samsung account, since the app store refuses installs without one, and keep your login details handy on your phone.
Open Apps and search
Press the Home button, move to Apps and select the magnifying glass. Samsung’s catalogue differs by country and changes over time, so search by name and see what your set offers today rather than assuming a particular listing exists.
Pick IPTV Smarters or Smart IPTV
Where IPTV Smarters is listed, it is the easy route: free, with a normal sign-in screen for your Xtream details. Smart IPTV is lighter and runs nicely on older Samsungs, but it has no login form; you upload your playlist from another device, and after a free trial the developer charges a one-time activation for each TV. Install whichever your store shows, or try Smarters first if both appear.
Sign in with Smarters
Open IPTV Smarters, choose Login with Xtream Codes API, give the profile a name such as Condo or Family Room, and enter the username, password and server URL with http:// and the port. Select Add User. The TV then downloads the channel list and guide, which takes longer on a 2017 set than on a new one, so be patient on the first run.
Or upload a playlist to Smart IPTV
Open Smart IPTV on the TV and write down the MAC address it displays. On your phone or laptop, go to siptv.app/mylist, enter that MAC, paste your M3U link into the URL field and send it. Back on the TV, close the app fully and open it again so it loads the list. The Smart IPTV guide covers this route in more detail.
Bring Canadian channels to the front
In Smarters, open Live TV and choose the Canadian categories from the list on the left. Long-press select on each channel you watch regularly to add it to Favourites, and keep your local news, your team’s regional sports feed and any French-language channels there. The remote’s channel up and down buttons then move through a short list instead of all 25,000+ entries.
Match the guide to your time zone
Samsung sets take their clock from the network when Auto is selected, found under the Time settings in the System Manager menu. If the TV was bought or set up elsewhere, the zone can be wrong, so check it says the zone for your province. Then compare a program you know on the guide. If the grid is still shifted, use the EPG time shift setting in the player to close the gap.
Keep it smooth on a cold, busy night
Samsung TV processors are modest, and a crowded network makes that obvious. Use the Ethernet port if you can. If you cannot, move the router off the floor and away from the TV’s metal stand, and join the 5 GHz network name if the router offers one. Choose FHD versions of channels when several screens are in use. Turning the TV fully off now and again, by holding the power button until the Samsung logo appears, clears its memory and often cures sluggish guide scrolling.
If a step does not work
The player is missing from the store
Samsung decides its catalogue per country, and a set first configured with a US region shows the US store. Some players also leave the Samsung store for a while and come back. If the one you want is absent, try the other player, or ask support which Samsung app is working best for customers right now. A Fire TV Stick or Android box in a spare HDMI port is the fallback when the store offers nothing suitable.
The TV is far from the router and channels keep buffering
Samsung’s Network Status screen shows signal strength; if it is weak, the TV is simply too far away or behind too many walls. Run a cable, add a mesh node in that room, or use a powerline adapter. Testing the same channel on a phone next to the router confirms the account is working while you fix the room.
Only one audio language plays
Samsung’s own audio language menu only applies to over-the-air and cable input. For streams inside the player, open the playback controls and look for the audio track option. If only one track is offered, that feed has only one language, so select its French or English counterpart from the category list.
The player closes or freezes on an older Samsung
Tizen sets from the first few model years have little memory to spare, and a large guide can push them over. Do a full restart by holding the remote’s power button until the logo appears. On newer models, Device Care under the Support menu can clear an app’s stored data. If that does not settle it, delete the player, restart the TV and install it again, then limit the guide to the Canadian categories you actually use.

Samsung Smart TV: setup questions
Do I need a Firestick for IPTV on a Samsung TV?
Not usually. Samsung sets from around 2016 run a player from their own store, so the TV is the only hardware involved. A stick makes sense on older sets, when your store region offers no suitable player, or if you specifically want TiViMate, which is not made for Tizen.
What does Smart IPTV cost on a Samsung?
The app runs on a short free trial, then its developer asks for a one-time activation per television. That is paid to the app developer, separate from your SMARTIFLIX plan. IPTV Smarters has no activation step.
Will my Samsung show 4K channels?
A 4K Samsung will display them, as long as the connection holds up. If the TV is on Wi-Fi far from the router or the house is busy, the FHD version of the same channel is the more reliable choice.
Can two Samsung TVs in the same house use one account?
Yes. Install the player on each set and sign in with the same details. The number of TVs you install on is not the limit; the number playing at the same time is, and that depends on your plan. With Smart IPTV, each television has its own MAC address, so the playlist needs to be uploaded once per set.
