Most likely causes
- The playlist URL saved in iPlayTV is wrong, expired or was edited by hand, so the app opens but the channel list is empty.
- The EPG (XMLTV) URL is missing or on the wrong time zone, so channels play but the programme guide stays blank or looks shifted.
- The saved playlist is stale and iPlayTV has not refreshed it, so old or dead channels load instead of the current list.
- The installed iPlayTV build is out of date, or tvOS is on an old version the current app no longer fully supports, so it hangs or crashes on launch.
- The Apple TV lost its network mid-refresh, so a large playlist or guide download was cut off and left incomplete.
Fixes, in the order to try them
Check the playlist URL in iPlayTV. Open the app, go to your playlist entry, and confirm the M3U or Xtream URL matches the SMARTIFLIX details exactly. If it was typed on the remote it is easy to get one character wrong; re-enter it rather than trusting a quick glance.
Force a playlist refresh. Use the iPlayTV option to reload or update the playlist so it fetches a fresh copy instead of showing a cached one. If old channels keep appearing, remove the playlist and add it again from your current link.
Add or fix the EPG URL for a blank guide. If channels play but the guide is empty, open the playlist settings and paste the EPG (XMLTV) link that came with your details into the EPG field, then set the correct time zone. A guide that is hours out can read as empty for the current slot.
Give a large download time. On first load a full playlist and multi-day EPG can take a minute or two on Wi-Fi. Stay on the screen while it downloads rather than switching away, which can cancel the request and leave the list half-loaded.
Update iPlayTV and tvOS. Check the App Store for an iPlayTV update and update tvOS under Settings then System then Software Updates. A mismatch between an old app build and the current tvOS, or the reverse, is a common reason the app hangs on launch.
Reinstall the app. If it still will not load, delete iPlayTV from the Apple TV, restart the box, and install it again from the App Store, then add your playlist fresh. This clears a corrupted cache or an interrupted update.
If iPlayTV still shows nothing after a clean reinstall and a correct URL, test the same playlist in another player. If that works, the issue is local to iPlayTV; if not, message the SMARTIFLIX desk on WhatsApp to check the line.

iPlayTV not working on Apple TV FAQ
Why does iPlayTV open but show no channels?
An empty list almost always means the saved playlist URL is wrong, expired or stale. Re-check the M3U or Xtream link against your SMARTIFLIX details, then force a refresh or remove and re-add the playlist so iPlayTV pulls the current list.
Channels play but the guide is blank. How do I fix it?
That is an EPG problem, not a subscription one. Add the EPG (XMLTV) URL from your details into the playlist settings, set the correct time zone, and reload the guide. A large guide can also take a minute or two to download on first load.
iPlayTV keeps loading an old channel list. What now?
The app is showing a cached copy. Use the reload or update option, and if that does not clear it, remove the playlist and add it again from your current link so the stale list is replaced with the fresh one.
Does the tvOS version matter for iPlayTV?
It can. An old tvOS build paired with a current app, or an old app on new tvOS, can cause hangs on launch. Update both under the App Store and Settings, System, Software Updates, then reopen the app before troubleshooting further.
