Most likely causes
- No IPTV player is installed yet, because tvOS ships without one and cannot open an M3U link on its own.
- The player is installed but the playlist or Xtream Codes URL was entered with a small typo, an extra space, or http where it should be https.
- The playlist link has expired or the subscription line has not been activated, so the app opens but lists nothing to play.
- The Apple TV is on a weak or busy Wi-Fi connection, or an older model is straining on 4K feeds it cannot comfortably decode.
- The installed player is an older build, or tvOS itself is out of date, and the app crashes or fails to load lists after a recent update.
Fixes, in the order to try them
Install a tvOS IPTV player first. Open the App Store on the Apple TV and search for a native player such as iPlayTV, then install it. Apple TV cannot open a raw M3U link by itself, so without a player there is nothing to play. Our Apple TV and iPhone setup guide walks through a player end to end.
Enter the playlist details exactly. In the player add your playlist and compare the M3U URL, or the Xtream Codes host, username and password, character for character against what SMARTIFLIX sent you. A single wrong letter, a trailing space, or an http where https is expected will stop every channel from loading.
Confirm the line is active. If the app loads but the channel list is empty, the playlist link may have expired or the subscription may not be activated yet. Try the same login in a second player or on a phone; if it plays there, the Apple TV app is the issue, and if nothing plays anywhere the line needs checking.
Restart the network path. Power the Apple TV off, restart your router, and where possible put the Apple TV on the 5 GHz band or, on an Apple TV 4K, a wired Ethernet connection. A weak signal often shows up as channels that will not open rather than an obvious network error.
Try the HD feed rather than 4K. Open the HD version of a channel instead of the UHD entry. If HD plays and 4K does not, an older Apple TV model is likely hitting a decode limit on that particular stream, which is a hardware ceiling rather than a fault with the channel.
Update or reinstall the player. Check the App Store for an update to your IPTV player, and update tvOS under Settings then System then Software Updates. If the app still misbehaves, delete it, restart the Apple TV, and install it again so it pulls a clean build and reloads your playlist.
If channels still will not play after all of this, note what you see on screen and message the SMARTIFLIX desk on WhatsApp so we can confirm your line is live from our side.

IPTV not working on Apple TV FAQ
Does Apple TV have a built-in IPTV app?
No. tvOS does not include an IPTV player and cannot open an M3U or Xtream link on its own. You install a player from the tvOS App Store first, such as iPlayTV, then load your playlist into that app. Without a player there is nothing for the Apple TV to play.
Why does the app open but show no channels?
An empty list almost always means the playlist URL is wrong or expired, or the subscription is not activated. Re-check the M3U or Xtream details for typos, then try the same login on another device. If it plays elsewhere, the Apple TV entry is the problem; if not, contact the desk to check the line.
HD channels play but 4K does not. Why?
Older Apple TV models can struggle to decode some 4K or HEVC feeds, so the UHD entry may stall while the HD version plays fine. Use the HD feed on those channels. On an Apple TV 4K a wired connection also helps steady demanding streams.
How do I tell if it is the box or my subscription?
Load the same playlist in a second player or on an iPhone. If it works there, the Apple TV app or its network is the issue. If nothing plays anywhere once the URL and activation are correct, the line itself needs checking and the desk can confirm it.
