Most likely causes
- No IPTV player is installed, because iOS and iPadOS do not play M3U or Xtream links without a dedicated app.
- The playlist URL, or the Xtream host, username and password, was entered with a typo or an extra space, so the app opens but loads nothing.
- A data restriction is blocking the app on cellular, for example Low Data Mode or a per-app mobile-data toggle turned off, so it only works on Wi-Fi.
- The connection is too weak for the stream, common on a distant Wi-Fi point or a single bar of cellular data.
- Background App Refresh is off, so the guide and playlist went stale, or the app or iOS is out of date and needs updating.
Fixes, in the order to try them
Install an iOS player first. Open the App Store on the iPhone or iPad and install a native player such as iPlayTV or GSE Smart IPTV. iOS will not open a raw playlist link on its own, so the app is the missing piece. Our Apple TV and iPhone setup guide shows the process for one player.
Add the playlist carefully. In the app add your list and check the M3U URL, or the Xtream Codes host, username and password, exactly against the SMARTIFLIX details. On a phone keyboard it is easy to add a stray space or capital letter, and one wrong character stops every channel.
Check mobile-data permissions if it only fails on cellular. Open Settings then the app, or Settings then Cellular, and confirm mobile data is allowed for that app. Turn off Low Data Mode under Settings then Cellular then Cellular Data Options, since it can throttle streaming. If it works on Wi-Fi but not on data, this is usually why.
Test the connection strength. IPTV needs a steady several megabits per second; a single bar of Wi-Fi or a congested cellular cell will stall it. Move closer to the router, or try a stronger signal, and open the HD version of a channel rather than 4K, which asks far less of a mobile connection.
Turn on Background App Refresh. Under Settings then General then Background App Refresh, enable it for your player so the app can keep the playlist and guide current instead of loading a stale copy when you reopen it.
Update or reinstall the app. Update the player in the App Store and update iOS or iPadOS under Settings then General then Software Update. If it still will not load, delete the app, restart the device, reinstall it, and add your playlist again to clear a corrupted cache.
If channels still will not play on both Wi-Fi and data after all of this, message the SMARTIFLIX desk on WhatsApp with a photo of the screen so we can confirm your line.

IPTV not working on iPhone or iPad FAQ
Can an iPhone play IPTV without an app?
No. iOS and iPadOS do not open M3U or Xtream links on their own, so you need a player from the App Store such as iPlayTV or GSE Smart IPTV. Once the app is installed you add your playlist inside it, and the channels play through that app.
It works on Wi-Fi but not on mobile data. Why?
That points at a data restriction rather than your subscription. Check that mobile data is allowed for the app under Settings, and turn off Low Data Mode, which can throttle streaming. A very weak cellular signal will also stall playback even when data is allowed.
Why does the app lose my channels or guide?
If Background App Refresh is off, the app cannot update the playlist and guide between sessions, so it can reopen with stale or missing data. Turn it on under Settings, General, Background App Refresh, and reload the playlist to pull a fresh copy.
How much internet does IPTV use on a phone?
HD streaming typically needs several megabits per second and uses a few gigabytes an hour, and 4K uses far more. On a limited mobile plan, choose the HD feed rather than 4K and watch your data allowance, or stay on Wi-Fi for long viewing.
